Author of 10 novels yet unpublished (edit, edit, edit!), doodler (zendoodle.com), music major: voice and piano, mom of four great adults, notorious waster of time: i.e. ‘research’–web surfing more like. I have achieved Reiki II but rarely practice. Need to get back into it.
I have been on disability/retired for 10 years now from depression, anxiety and fibromyalgia.
Meanwhile I am trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

Thank you for following my blog. I believe you as I know how painful an autoimmune disease can be. Stay strong and of course you already know this, as healthy as possible. Brave girls, right!
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, working on the health. Finally the doctors are seeking deeper diagnosis than those from across the room. I will soon be in water therapy. I don’t know, brave or not. It is was it is and I do what I can when I can. When I can’t I am dreaming of what I want to do when the flare fades. I often find the creative muse works best in my sleep.
Nice to meet you
And you! 🙂

Sure. I am not much of one to read romance novels but love books about strong females. I always have a ton to read. But I love it! Check out my shelves on GoodReads: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/813598-darlene

you’re welcome:

Hi there! Just clicked over from Linda Hill’s JJJ…is it weird that I read the title of your blog as “Dar Swords” rather than “Dar’s Words?” It’s pretty cool either way 🙂
Might. Words mightier than swords. Cool that you saw it and I never did. I may have to work with this concept a bit. Thanks for pointing it out. 🙂
Hey there, I’ve been snooping around your site, trying to figure out what your theme meant (found it) and trying to remember if I asked you on a previous post what you’ve tried for your depression, anxiety, and fibromyalgia. Anyway, it would take forever to go through all my previous responses, so I will just ask again…have you tried either essential oils or CBD for your symptoms? I found that frankincense worked so well for my depression, I got off all my anti-depressants, plus it gave me tons of energy and lifted the brain fog I always had. CBD works well for my anxiety and sleep, some people say it helps their pain. Have you looked into any of these? Although I still take some regular prescriptions, I’d do anything not to have to take more pills, and cure myself naturally. The essential oils also helped me lose weight, I need to get back on track with that one myself, as I have gained a few pounds in the last four months. Let me know your thoughts. I hope and pray you feel better soon!
Thank you for snooping around my site. LOL! At least it was for good and not evil! Yes, I’m doing CBD tincture every night. Most of the time it helps me slip from pain to a more relaxed state. I have to take a bit more THC than I would have thought as I do find it helps me get to the dream state faster. Before I added that I would relax to sleep only to wake within an hour and not be able to get back to sleep. As anyone who has pain knows, it is always worse at night where there are no distractions. During the daytime, I just try to stay busy with my knitting or other creative venture where I’m not physically stressed. And I keep a ‘bingie’ show on TV while I knit. Sometimes I write but finding a comfortable position for that seems nearly impossible.
Most of the depression seems to have settled to something manageable and the few bouts are not nearly as bad as when they put me on disability about 17 years ago. Life is a lot less stressful here in the outback of Oregon. This tiny little town is quiet and the sky is ever changing and the scenery beautiful.
I’ve not yet learned enough about essential oils nor how to use them. Since fibro is all over my body and not just this joint or that (yes, I have arthritis so I know how to use topicals for those joints) but when the weather gets to me like this snowy week, napping and extra tincture at bedtime seems to get me through.
Keto sounds interesting but as a vegetarian, almost vegan, with gallbladder problems more oil and no carbs, sounds like something that might send me to the hospital. I’d love to lose weight. The only exercise I seem to barely tolerate right now is chair yoga. At this rate losing from exercise seems nearly impossible. I’m open to suggestions.
Where do you get the frankincense and how do you use it?
Thank you for all your suggestions! Maybe I’ll come over to your site when I can spend time on the computer and learn about you and what works for you.
Oh, I’m so sorry that you are suffering so. Are you unable to even clean house, are you pretty much bound to a chair all day? If so, I’m sorry for presuming that you were active like me, I don’t think sometimes.
Well, I use quality, trusted brands of essential oils first and foremost because I ingest some of them. When I first started, I used frankincense and lemon (one drop each) in my water and drank that. It gave me energy to walk and that helped me lose weight. I also used my diffuser quite a bit, that’s a great way to get the benefits without ingesting the oils. Lavender is good for sleep, oregano helps rid the body of bacteria, lemon is wonderful for energy, and detoxing, cleaning, and just making the house smell good. Bergamot and frankincense give you a sense of well being and calm, focus, and are good for studying or, if you’re into that, meditation. Roxie (TheOilyGuru) knows more than me, you should check out her site when you have time. 😊
I do hope you get feeling better, I’m sorry for your ailments and I hope you find relief. My situation is the opposite, I seems to feel better when active and pain goes away at night when I sleep (if I can stay asleep) CBD and occasional THC help with that, a glass of wine helps too! 😉
I don’t know if I answered this already. But thank you for all the information. I’ll be looking up TheOilyGuru to learn what I can. By the way, I don’t think of myself as chair or bedbound. I do what I can and try and enjoy what I have. The winter has made me less strong so I need to strengthen what I have. Housework is difficult. Family members help when they aren’t having broken shoulders or their own physical problems. Winter falls, etc. But we do the best we can and try to enjoy what we can.
Thank you so much for the follow on I Write Her. I really appreciate it!! I’m sorry to hear about your physical complications but I hope that you can find some relief that you are bringing joy with your blog! 🙂
Wow! Thanks! I do enjoy blogging. And I love reading blogs like yours!
You’re welcome! 🙂
