One-liner Wednesday

For Linda G. Hill’s One-liner Wednesday I offer this.

I didn’t know if that’s been done yet. My husband’s contribution was, “Eh.” I’ll save that for later.

Tuesday’s Tickle

You are right if you have guessed that I had nothing for today.

Making a goal of editing is tough. It seems especially difficult with our current situation. When I started CampNaNo and decided to edit through 25K words I thought that was a lot. But last night I surpassed my goal and yet have another 25K to go through. So I am making another goal on the CampNaNo website. Still it was miraculous for ME to finish my goal at the half month stage. I had hoped to get some writing done this month but that rewrite and finish to the story will have to be put off until May. The thing is, meandering through the Pandamapocalypse document looking for grammar and spelling issues I am seeing bits that mean to be rewritten, eliminated, or simply moved to different parts of the story. Best of all, maneuvering around within the plot and overall manuscript makes me happy. I still like the idea of the book and how it is going. I sure hope someday to let others enjoy the fun I have had with all of my Haven series including this latest issue.

The magic of Hulu has kept me sane lately. If you want a background show that is funny or ignorable, watch Staged with David Tenet and Michael Sheen. Warning this may have strong language. As I said, this plays excellent in the background and doesn’t demand my attention like music.

I just finished watching all of Staged and left Hulu on and it put on Miranda. I have watched that series before and I loved it so much! This second watch is mirth incarnate!

For my fellow Grey’s Anatomy friends: Does Ellen Pompeo have the best job ever? Meredith Grey gets to sleep or be on the beach with old friends. And being paid for it! I want to be her when I grow up!

I am so happy with the way Shonda Rhimes is handling the COVID19 crises and how the emergency medical teams are dealing with all that is happening these days.

Okay that is all I can find swirling around in my mind to meander.

Merry

Just Jot It January–Cheese

Cheese

I’m coming in a bit out of order. Mostly because I’m, well, out of synch. Out of step. But I couldn’t let a good prompt go unused. Leaving it there to get moldy like a old piece of cheese.

People know me on Facebook for my cheesy memes. I guess I still see the world as a child of puns. When I was a kid, I read every joke and riddle book in our town’s library. My favorite jokes were word puns. Like:

Light travels faster than sound. That’s why some people appear bright until you hear them speak

Though there is depth in this pun, does that make it less cheesy?

Per Linda G. Hill:

Here are the JusJoJan Rules:

1. Just Jot It January starts January 1st, but it’s never too late to join in! Here, we run on the honour system; the “jot it” part of JusJoJan means that anything you jot down, anywhere (it doesn’t have to be a post, it can even be a grocery list), counts as a “jot.” If it makes it to your blog that day, great! If it waits a week to get from a sticky note to your screen, no problem!

2. I’ll post prompts at 2am my time (GMT -5). The prompt will be the word in quotation marks in the title of my 2am post. You don’t have to follow the prompt every day, but that will be where you leave your link for others to see. You’ll get a prompt for every day except Wednesday, when the prompt is simply my One-Liner Wednesday and on Saturday, when your prompt will be the Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS, which will appear at about 9:30am Friday. Each prompt post will include the rules.

3. Please ping back or link to the daily prompt. To ping back, just copy the URL from the daily prompt post, and paste it anywhere in your post. Check to make sure your link shows up where you want it to, and go back occasionally to see other bloggers’ entries – the more you visit others, the more they’ll visit you! Note: A) The newest pingbacks will be at the top of the comments section. B) Ping backs only work if you’re blogging on WordPress. Everyone else must paste a link manually.

4. Tag your post JusJoJan and/or #JusJoJan.

5. Write anything! Any length will do! It can even be a photo or a drawing – you’re going to title it, right? There’s your jot!

6. If your post is NSFW, do not ping back. Please leave your link in the comments with a warning.

7. If you’d like to, use the JusJoJan badge so that others can find your post more easily.

8. Have fun!

Throw-Back Thursday

I know that Throw-Back Thursday is about pictures of ourselves in younger less dignified days, but the physical body only holds onto all the stuff our beings have been through our whole lives.

John Holton shares lots of music that I and other babyboomers remember with fondness on his blog. He mentioned Lloyd Thaxton the other day on The Sound of One Hand Typing. Regardless of the music I suddenly thought of the line that Lloyd Thaxton ended his show, “Always smile with your bottom teeth.” As happens often at my age I doubted my memory and needed to Google whether it was Lloyd … or maybe Soupy Sales.

I fell down the YouTube rabbit hole. My day was spent watching and laughing at the crazy Supman. A good place to get started is his biography.

My brother and my son and I watched and laughed so hard. At first, my son couldn’t remember Soupy. But I tried to explain that he was Pee Wee before there was Chairy. Finally, I just had to put the YouTubes on the TV. If you need a day to escape the crazies, this will do it!

Meanwhile, I searched all over for Lloyd Thaxton saying, “Smile with your bottom teeth!” That he ended his show with on occasion. That sent me down another memory rabbit hole. Remember this?

That was when I fell in love with Motown, and lipsyncing. What a fun show it was.

In my search, I learned that Lloyd passed in 2006. Maybe I knew and forgot? But it made me sad all over again.

By the way, Lloyd Thaxton had a blog. You can find it here.

This made me laugh!

Remember this from yesterday?

Well, there was more to that story. My husband tried to capture the picture from the door of the creature in the driveway.

This morning the creature was right across the street.

I tried not to think about it. But then as it started snowing again, and I started to take a picture of our front porch, I saw yellow.

Look who came to visit!

That same creature. What is it? You may ask. I did. I went to the door and this is who I found:

I don’t trust that innocent smile, do you? We sent him back home. Told him next time bring cookies!

Meanwhile, the snow continues icing the view.

And I continue to knit.

Believe it or not, the socks and hat are of the same yarn. Lessons in shadows and light, I suppose. Patterns for both hat and socks came with the small gauge baby KB looms.

I don’t know why but this prompt is bringing this ole castor bean back up. I don’t have time to go look it up (I did anyway!) but I’m sure if I’m wrong someone will let me know. It is something my dad use to pull around us kids. He’d asked what the name of the great falls was. Yeah, we knew the job was dangerous when we took it.

Answer: (Just get it over with) Niagra Falls.

(I can hear every baby boomer out there already reciting.)

Dad: Niagra Falls. (He’d look at as with crazy eyes.) Slowly I turned. (he’d turn and walk slowly toward us) Step by step.

By now we are over trying to be cool and giggling nearly uncontrollably. Dad was the sense of humor in our house, in our church, at work, everywhere. I do miss him.

By the way, I believe that was from the Three Stooges.

I couldn’t resist. I had to look it up. And look what I found!

And

What was that all about? Ah, those crazy people in the fifties!

Hopefully, by now, you’ve heard the prompt a bunch of times. “Inch by inch.”

Jot It and Prompt: Thanks, John!

By the way, if you copy and paste that middle one into your browser it should bring up YouTube with Abbott and Costello. I don’t know why it didn’t just form here–and maybe it will and my computer is just being weird, again.
