Thankful

Since the wee hours of the morning we’ve had rain. It may be humid, there were lightning strikes but enough rain to put out the starts. We even lost electricity.

Even so thank you for the rain dances and prayers. This has been so glorious!

The mustachioed sky is nothing like a pistachioed sky which sounds more delicious. Instead it seemed the sky didn’t want us to relax with clouds. More than 22 lightning strikes were counted. Though it sounds like all were taken care of quickly. The day was cooler with spits of rain so I can’t complain. Even Kali was happy to go outside as the mist was so light she could barely feel it. Oh, and that fresh clean smell that brings such peace. But can it be trusted?

Thank you, Linda G. Hill. Here’s her prompt instructions:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the last photo you took.” Take the last photo you snapped. What’s the first word that comes to mind when you look at it? That word is your prompt. Enjoy!

Thankfully Tuesday

After a very busy Monday: bone density scan then shopping and driving two hours both ways on roads that make it feel much longer and more painful than my recent six hour drives, and breathing smoke for weeks, this:

Beautiful rain.

No. I didn’t play Tetris. I needed to do more rearranging in my ‘studio.’

My daughter is deeply in a move. So much so that they are living with no furniture for two weeks. Everything has already moved or has been given away.

Which brings me to my new acquisitions from her. Two folding tables and a cubicle shelf for hobbies and books.

That meant moving the smaller bookshelf full of music books to another location.

End of the piano facing the livingroom.

That left the window area for the cubicle shelving for art, crafts, more books.

The yellow bag has drawing goods. The Avatar bag crayons and colored pens and coloring books. Soon each will leave the bag for new cubes.

Now I’ve opened the smaller table for all kinds of fun.

Right across from the piano.

Meanwhile, we actually had a tiny bit of rain today. Not enough to put out fires but it cooled things down a bit.

Three more Marvel films moved me on the timeline. Captain America: the Winter Soldier, and both Guardians of the Galaxy. I did like G of G. They were more my kind of movie. And Grood is the coolest!

Okay, time to make some noise or music accordingly.

I was so excited last night. I finally finished one of my daughter’s socks.

I was so happy. But when I pulled out the other one, it was two inches longer in the cuff than this finished one. So Thursday was spend pulling the cuff back on the loom. It didn’t work as easily as I thought it would. So just now, I am finally back to the length when I did the stretchy bind off I thought worked out so well. Well, I’d like it to be as nice as it can be.

Oh, well, Though it was still another rainy day, the sky gave me a show so I could rest my eyes after all the close work.

What day is it anyway, was answered as my brother took out the trash. How can Friday be here so soon?

One-Liner Wednesday

Rainy days and Wednesdays…

And that was my One-liner for Wednesday.

Making it Monday

There is still a lot of snow on the ground. Flurries and rain made me wonder how the Carpenter’s song would go if they could sing it today. The snow was melting at one point. While enjoying a video chat with friends I took this one through the front picture window.

A few minutes ago I heard something hitting the window. I didn’t know if it was rain or snow. I went to the storm door and saw drops on the window. I reached out to touch the droplets. They were frozen. It makes the window look like bathroom glass. Kind of cool. We are expecting about four inches of snow tonight. Makes me want to pull out the Christmas lights and start singing carols!

So what am I making? More socks! I am nearly finished with my daughter’s first sock. I just need to bind off. I’ll probably do that tomorrow. It’s the one on the right. The other one is at the point of the heel. The hardest part of the sock is the ribbing. I am doing this part with four purls, four true-knit stitches. The rest of the sock is the flat knit-stitch.

As you can see I am making these on the KB His and Hers looms. I now have two sets of the same size so I can keep the pair of sock as close to the same size as possible.

And here are the boyfriend’s socks started on the His looms. I am going to take the stitches off the bigger purple loom, upper left, and put them on the empty smaller one. These two looms have the same amount of pegs. I like the smaller set better as they are more comfortable for my hands.

Oh, I worked on the soft hat, too.

This may be close to being done.

I have other projects but my hands seem most attracted to these WIPs.

This would have been the extent of our day. But GoT brought pizza and excitement, and tears. So sad it’s ending. So sad about Dany. I am happier than I thought I would be with the last show. And hopeful for any sequels. I almost feel I should write my own ending to feel totally happy. In case any out there haven’t seen it, read no further!

What does Arya find?

What will happen north of the wall now?

Are there more dragons elsewhere, could a red woman out there help Dany?

Will Bran warg some dragons?

Will Greyworm set the people free in Narth?

Will Asha find happiness?

So many questions I hope that will someday be answered!

But mostly, will Kali ever get to go outside again?

Mariah Keeps Blowing

So this ark is still surrounded by more than a foot of water and snow. The wind is blowing in the next rain/snow storm. Here are some new pictures I took this morning.img_20170205_1401063_rewind_kindlephoto-493350

See the red gas can (empty)? It used to be under the kitchen window. It is either the tide or the wind that carried it to the far east of our property. And you can still see lots of snow. In fact, we have to carry the dog to higher snow to do her business.

Anyone who would dare to come visit or even the poor UPS guy will have to walk on the ladder then to the bit of snow to get to the first step of our front porch. We are taking care of a poor stray cat and usually feed him under the front porch. But now have to feed on the steps. Somehow, he is getting to the food. But how he does it without swimming I can’t figure out.

I just ordered some knee-high rainboots. My brother has some and has been the main person to carry but when he goes back to work (which isn’t tomorrow as the whole town is going through this) I will be able to carry her out.

Though this place has the happy name of Christmas Valley, the county name is LAKE. Now I know why!
