Thursday the Thirtiest ;-D

JunoWriMo is done as of today. I reached my lesser goal of 15K words added to my memoir, Moving. After two months of writing, I have accumulated 55,394 words, and I still have much more to write about. I don’t know how many of you have written a memoir, but it is far different for me than fiction. I just wrote the word friction and laughed. Yeah, either way, the writing is about friction. So my next part, I will make a new goal for CampNaNo and see how far it takes me.

I am trying to keep it about me, this book. That sounds selfish, but it is the only way I can keep from throwing others under a bus, of sorts. Did they do me wrong? Yeah. But many have grown, and many have left this plane of existence. So I am just trying to claim my own issues and experiences without awfully implicating others. Still, there are some that I haven’t figured out how to tell the story without the other person involved.

At the same time, I want to use this writing as a memory enhancer or therapy session. So I will have to remove names to protect the innocent or those who need their anonymity,

Just to give an idea as to how far into my life I’ve written, I am on the thirteenth move, I am well into my forties, and my oldest is now a young adult. So there are another thirty-something years to write about. Though this second half of life isn’t nearly as full of excitement, agitation, or losses as the first half.

The biggest fun I have had writing this is trying to tour through the homes as I get to that part of my life. It amazes me what I remember and what I have forgotten. It’s nice to pick my adult children’s brains for details I might have forgotten, and if not theirs, my brother’s. And then there’s that weird thing that happens. Every person recalls an incident differently, sometimes widely different than each other. That Mandela effect plays strongly on all of us. Heck, that plays a part when you send two people to the store with grocery lists, and they come home with none of the essential items.

But then we hardly agree on what day of the week, right? Hence, Linda G. Hill’s What Day Is It Anyway prompt. Several times today it has been Saturday. Other times it feels like a Monday. Maybe it is due to the long trip to Redmond we had to take on Tuesday. That has screwed up the space-time continuum for me this week.

Back to the writing. I think I will set up my CampNaNo goal for 15k more. That will allow for some special things I am planning for this month. I get to see family and friends! Yay!

Does anyone know if Linda G. Hill is still doing the Escapist Coloring prompt still? I have a page colored I could share tomorrow.

Happy Friday Eve!

Socks done. Now the hard part, getting them in the mail.
Dragon nearly growling off the page!

Not as much done on the writing. Pretty tired from stress, long drives, actual surgery, so I mostly vegged

Scrappy socks for charity.

Reading. I’m having to learn to track, or figure out which glasses help best. And I won’t know for a month. So Audible and Text-to-speech is still my friends. BUT, standing in front of the mirror winking first right eye then left eye, the surprise is that my left eye sees my reflection better than the old favorite my right eye.

My new big E. At first I couldn’t see the numbers with my left eye. Well, before surgery it was a blotch on the wall. It’s about 10 feet from my recliner. My ‘good’ eye, the right still sees it, even the second hand. But gradually poor weak but refurbished left eye sees the numbers now. YAY! This is quite the adventure!

For a little old lady puppy, Kali breaks my heart with cute. For some reason, she looks like a little hand puppet as she climbs into bed at night.

A gift my hubby bought both of us. Not the expensive, does everything Fitbit, but it does keep track of the basics. Now I just need to get used to wearing it. And then it needs to be warmer than 32 outside so walks won’t hurt.

This weekend we might get rain. I’m thinking wellies, raincoat and umbrella and rain dance of thankfulness.
Hopeful.

I am so addicted to Diamond Painting. I can only handle a bit, maybe a hour but it is so meditative. Let me see if I can show you my progress so far.

The TARDIS in the middle has the shadow on the right side.

It is slow so I’m teaching myself the multi-drillers. Here’s one of the tutorials.

I’ll let you know if it works.

HAPPY

Thankful Thursday

A couple people have asked how we are doing. So far we are okay in our little Oregon town. But the news of nearby towns is tragic. My son is getting well. My other son broke his pinky toe in solidarity. I’m kidding. It is just a coincidence. But he’s okay. We’re okay. It is 2020 so keeping good thoughts for all of us, all of you, too!

The only clue that it may be Thursday is the trash it out. Luckily that’s not my job. Though I am often consulted to make sure it is the right day. Because nobody knows what day it is, do they? Family members asked me how my friends were. I had to explain it wasn’t Friday. But I had to look at my phone to make sure I didn’t have it wrong.

This is normally the day I give reviews of the streaming shows I’ve been watching. But all I have been doing is knitting and listening to Outlander 8, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. No, I ran out of scrubby yarn so it’s back to socks. I have one pair ready for the brim. one pair just past the toes, and another sock nearly finished from the olden days when I did socks one at a time. I do have two hats but I just don’t like doing hats at the moments. I have plenty of yarn

Yep, nearly done with sock one.

Only cuffs to go.

Okay. I admit this looks crazy. Knitting four socks, or even two socks at a time can be a challenge on the X-Wing Fighter. The two on the right are the ones I have about three inches of toes in Jeweltone of Red Heart Soft, the upper left arm has the beginning of a sock but I am waiting for another skein of the yarn I’m using on that one. If it doesn’t come soon I will frog it and make something else. So I keep the skein in a baggy rubber banded on the proper leg. That keeps the yarn clean and untangled This loom feels like I am playing a strange musical instrument. It is large but easy to handle.

So maybe not exciting stuff. But hey, the alternative seems worse, somehow. I accept my boring life as it is still, life. So there ya go. Now back to the book. How will the American Revolution end? Or at least how will it treat Claire and Jamie?

But who can tell? I just did more scrubbies.

To prove my point I made a couple of days ago, I crocheted a scrubby.

It was the pattern on the scrubby yarn label. To learn more about the yarn I followed this YouTube:

Yes, I did crochet it quicker than I could loom knit but by the end of the project my left hand hurt so badly that I thought I would cry. This is the hand that was holding the yarn and gives the tension. And the scrubby is tighter on the end as I finished. The hook hand was fine. I do miss crocheting.

Then I made one more loom knit scrubby, just cause I could. I think I am addicted! Is there a SA 12 step program? I think when the yarn is gone I will go back to the socks I’m nearly finished with.

Here’s the latest

Just in case here’s the tutorial for this one:

Okay, the trash is out so I know it is Thursday. That answers the #WDIIA question. I promise to have other things to blog about in the next three days. I have other things to talk about.

So the trash is out for tomorrow. The weather is finally warming up. Laptop is going through utilities, etc. So a quick check in to let you know we’re okay. Hugs to all of you. Blogging from cell is not easy on my eyes. Know that I care. Back to knitting and other crafty fun.
